Pantanal Popular Tour - 10 days/9 nights

WHY CHOOSE THIS PANTANAL EXPERIENCE ?
Embark on an unforgettable trip to the Pantanal — the largest tropical wetland on Earth — harbors one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. With more than 3,500 plant species, around 650 birds, over 120 mammals, and dozens of reptiles and amphibians, it ranks among the richest ecosystems in the world. As a vast ecological mosaic blending influences from the Amazon, Cerrado, and Chaco, it offers a rare convergence of biodiversity within a single landscape. Recognized by UNESCO as a Natural World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, the Pantanal spans nearly 250,000 km2. Its seasonal floodplains and open horizons create something exceptional: wildlife that is not only abundant, but visible.
This is not simply a destination. It is one of the world’s great wildlife arenas. With approximately 650 recorded bird species — one-third of all species found in Brazil — the Pantanal offers extraordinary density and accessibility. Few places on Earth allow such consistent, close observation in open habitats ideal for photography and watching. Here, sightings are not a matter of luck — they are a matter of immersion. The Pantanal is also the finest place on Earth to observe the Jaguar in the wild. Along the riverbanks, jaguars patrol, swim, hunt, and rest in full view — behaving naturally, undisturbed, and fully sovereign within their territory. What distinguishes the Pantanal is not only its biodiversity, but the intimacy of the experience. Wildlife is not distant — it surrounds you.
Itinerary
Days 1-2 – Cuiaba > Pouso Alegre Lodge
After leaving Cuiabá and driving along the iconic Transpantaneira, you’ll enjoy your very first taste of the Pantanal’s extraordinary birdlife.
Begin your journey at Pouso Alegre Lodge, a rustic, ranch-style retreat set within a vast 7,000-hectare property rich in wildlife. Though simple in structure, the lodge offers some of the best opportunities in the Pantanal for birdwatching and mammal photography. Target species include the Brazilian tapir (the largest land mammal in South America), South American coati, crab-eating fox, and the toco toucan (the largest toucan in the world), among many others. In the lodge’s garden, a well-stocked bird feeder attracts an impressive diversity of species such as toucans, aracaris, cardinals, tanagers, and much more.
The property also features natural waterholes that provide excellent opportunities for relaxed and rewarding wildlife encounters. Thanks to its exceptional state of preservation, the area supports a remarkably abundant and diverse fauna. Birdlife is especially prolific, with hundreds of species inhabiting the surrounding wetlands, forests, and open fields — a true paradise for birdwatchers and photographers alike. Adding to its charm and historical character, the lodge’s trail system follows ancient cattle routes, now used as access paths for exploring this extraordinary ecosystem.
Days 3 – 7 Jaguarland Panoramico flotel
After an unforgettable stay at our previous lodge, it’s time to embark on the next leg of the journey: three and a half days of adventure in Jaguarland, the world’s premier destination for observing wild jaguars in their natural habitat. Our base will be a comfortable and well-appointed flotel, featuring 12 spacious triple or double cabins with box-spring beds, air conditioning, minibar, and private bathrooms. The vessel offers a large, air-conditioned restaurant with bar service and delicious regional cuisine served at every meal, as well as a cozy lounge areaequipped with TV, sound system, air conditioning, a games table, bar, and guest restroom.
Anchored right in the heart of the main jaguar zone, the flotel’s strategic location allows quickand efficient access to the best wildlife hotspots while cruising the rivers in search of these magnificent cats. Jaguar sightings here are frequent, providing thrilling encounters for wildlife enthusiasts and exceptional opportunities for photographers. Yet the magic of the Porto Jofre region goes far beyond jaguars. The rivers and surrounding wetlands teem with life: countless caimans and capybaras, playful giant river otters, and the dazzling colors of hyacinth macaws, alongside an extraordinary diversity of bird species. While this area is rightly celebrated as Jaguarland, its rich biodiversity makes it a deeply immersive wildlife destination, offering farmore than encounters with its iconic big cats. During our stay in this wild and breathtaking paradise, there is also a strong chance of encountering one of the rarest canids in the world —the extraordinary maned wolf. This fascinating and unusual species is often seen in one of the areas where we operate in Jaguarland, making this journey a truly special package that brings together some of South America’s most iconic wildlife. A dream wildlife experience in the very heart of South America — don’t miss it!
Days 08 – 09 Hotel Pantanal Mato Grosso
